James Taylor, Sr.

James Hubert Taylor Sr., 83, passed away Fri., April 10, 2009, at his residence in the North Creek community near Florala. He was born June 22, 1925, in Covington County, the son of the late James C. Taylor and Thelma Harrelson Taylor. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and later retired from driving trucks. He received the Lord at 81 and was a member of the Svea Assembly of God Church. His wife, Geneva passed away in 2005.
Survivors are three daughters, Shannon T. Jeter and husband, Monty of Lowndesboro, Ala., Sherrie T. Taylor of Florala, and Neice T. Odom and husband, James, who was a favorite of his; five sons, Randy J. Taylor, Sr. and wife, Sylvia, James H. Taylor, Jr., both of Florala, Chester E. Taylor Sr. of Burkville, Ala., Ben R. Taylor and wife, Barbara, of Laurel Hill, Fla., and Walter E. Taylor and wife, Joann, of Opp; 15 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and his beloved dog “Sam”.
Funeral services were at 4 p.m. Sun., April 12, at Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Margie Sexton Chambers and the Rev. Ray Wilson officiating. Interment was in the Florala Greenwood Cemetery.
