Hundreds of volunteers offered their time and skill this weekend to build a Habitat for Humanity house for the Hanlan family of Opp.
Sunday, workers laid sod for the front yard and finished adding the siding for the three-bedroom dwelling. Members of the Hanlan family added the final piece of siding.
Habitat for Humanity of Covington County president Dale “Flip” Pancake said there is work still to be done on the house — primarily painting and finishing work on the inside. A dedication ceremony is planned for June.
Jimmy Fowler, owner of Fowler Construction, said he’d never built a house so quickly, nor with so many people helping.
