Straughn won the Class 3A, Area 3 championship Wednesday in Straughn, defeating Luverne, 6-0 and 13-0.

Straughn’s Stephanie Bracewell and Kaitlynn wiggins both scored on errors in the first inning.

Kayla Messer followed and scored on an RBI single from Katy Messick.

In the third inning, Wiggins scored on a wild pitch and Messick scored on an error.

Straughn’s Tori Bracewell scored on an RBI single from Megan Johns.

Wiggins earned the win for the Lady Tigers, pitching 7.0 innings allowing one hit, zero runs and striking out nine.

Straughn will play in the Class 3A South Regional tournament in Gulf Shores this weekend.

Its first game will be at 11:30 a.m. on Friday.
