Andalusia Ballet is most excited about the City of Andalusia’s recent announcement of the plan to work in partnership with the Ballet to renovate the Historic Church Street School Building.

As many of you know, for over eight years the Ballet has been interested in the renovation and preservation of the old Church Street School building and the campus surrounding it as a community center which could be a home for the performing and visual arts organizations in the city.

It appears to be a perfect fit for the Ballet which has more than outgrown its current location. We have been raising money through our Build the Ballet Capital Campaign for over a year now to build a facility where we can have expanded studio, storage and operational space. Although for awhile it seemed best for the overall project for the Ballet to build a separate facility on the Church Street School campus, this agreement to work in partnership with the City of Andalusia not only provides us with the additional space we have been searching for but at the same time allows us to help our city renovate and restore a historic treasure for our community.

We are eager to begin and get back to our fundraising which had been on hold while this decision to locate in the old building was being negotiated. The Ballet is selling engraved bricks and cornerstones and there are also many additional naming opportunities for individuals and organizations who wish to contribute and leave a lasting legacy in the lovely old building which is so much a part of our history.
