A Century, Fla., man was jailed Sunday for the alleged rape of a local woman this weekend.

Lee Elbert Carthon, 49, is charged with one count of first-degree rape after the incident, Chief Deputy David Anderson of the Covington County Sheriff’s Office said.

“A call came in originating from an Andalusia address,” he said. “That call reported a domestic situation but it was later determined the incident happened out in the county’s jurisdiction shortly after midnight Saturday.”

Anderson said the victim, who was identified only as “an approximately 20-year-old black female” for privacy reasons, alleged Carthon raped her under the Brooklyn Bridge on Brooklyn Road.

As a result, Carthon was arrested and charged and is currently being held in the Covington County Jail under a $30,000 bond for the rape charge and without bond on two counts of failure to appear on traffic citations.
