Fourteen years later and after compiling a 58-31 record, Red Level coach Tim Grimes has decided to resign as the head football coach.

“I’m going to miss the kids and parents at Red Level,” Grimes said in a telephone interview. “And how much support they have given me over the years.”

For the past two seasons, the Tigers have ended with losing records. Their record in 2007 was 0-10 and in 2008, they finished 3-7.

Grimes said the reason he is leaving the RLS program because he felt it was the right time to go.

“I think its just time to move on,” he said. “I just felt it was good for the program.”

Grimes said there was no pressure on him to leave the football program, but added that this would be a good time for some “new” talent to take the reins.

“I’d been there all together 14 years and it might be time for some new blood to see what they can do,” Grimes said. “We didn’t have too much success the last couple years. Those were the only two that we hadn’t had two winning seasons.”

As recently as 2006, the Tigers finished with an 8-4 record.

Grimes said he has a couple of interviews with schools today, but would not comment on where the schools are located.

Despite leaving, Grimes said the team had a good spring.

“We looked pretty good this spring,” he said. “I think Red Level is heading in the right direction and coach (Tony) Ingram will take over from what I understand. I think (Ingram) will head Red Level in the right direction.”
