Brewers claim doubleheader

In a make up game from May 26, the Brewers defeated the Braves, 14-5, in the second game of the night Tuesday in Babe Ruth action at Waltman Russo Field.

In the first game, the Brewers beat the Twins, 9-2.

Brewers 14, Braves 5

The Brewers’ Hunter Weaver and Jay Brewer each scored four runs apiece to help lead their team to a nine-run victory over the Braves.

Weaver scored one run in the first, third, fifth and sixth innings, while Brewer scored in the third, fifth, sixth and seventh innings.

The Brewers scored two runs in the first inning when Weaver scored on an error for the first run. Then, later in the inning, C.P. Rogers scored on an RBI single from Catlin Jones.

The Braves scored two runs in the second when Cody Marler hit an RBI single to score Troy Nolen, and Troy Grissett scored the second run of the inning on an error.

In the third, the Brewers added three runs before extending their lead in the fifth by scoring four, while the Braves scored one in the fifth.

Weaver, Brewer, Rogers and Jones all scored for the Brewers in the fifth.

Weaver and Brewer both scored again in the sixth inning. In the seventh, Brewer hit an RBI single to score Stuart Studstill, Jones hit an RBI single to score Brewer, and Jones came around on a single from Jud Rogers.

The Braves added two more runs in the last inning of the game.

Brewers 9, Twins 2

In the first game of the night, the Brewers’ C.P. Rogers had four doubles and four RBIs to help his team defeat the Twins.

Rogers had a double in the first, third, fifth and sixth innings.

The Brewers scored three runs in the first, two of which came from Stuart Studstill and Jay Brewer.

Rogers scored in that inning on an RBI double from Catlin Jones.

The Twins added two runs in the first inning on a two-run single from Chris Watson to score Taylor Messick and Mason Wood.

The Brewers had six hits on six runs in the fifth inning to pull away from the Twins and get the win.

They added an additional run in the sixth inning on an RBI double from Rogers to score Hunter Weaver.
