The 11-to-12-year-old end-of-the-year Little League baseball tournament continued with the second round of play Tuesday night at Johnson Park.

The Twins defeated the Yankees, 9-8, and the Blue Jays beat the Astros, 10-3.

Twins 9, Yankees 8

Ashton Mayhall, Austin Worley and Tucker Lawless each scored two runs apiece to help their team knock out the Yankees from the end-of-the-year tournament.

Mayhall scored one run in the third inning on an RBI single from Jacob Whatley and scored a run in the fifth on an RBI single from Austin Worley.

Worley scored on a two-run double from Lawless in the third inning; and also scored in the fifth on an RBI single from Jordan Whitman.

Lawless scored in the second inning; and his other run came in the third on an RBI double from Whitman.

For the Yankees, Daryl George scored the first run in the first inning on an RBI single from Rollin Kinsaul.

In the third, George, Shane Jones, Kinsaul, Matt Canant, Gage Worley and Cole Harris all scored for their team on three hits and four walks.

The other three runs scored for the Twins came in the third inning when Whatley scored on an RBI double from Lawless; Whitman scored in the fifth on an RBI single from Brooks Rabren; and McKenzie Lanier scored one run in the sixth.

The Yankees’ last run came in the fourth inning when Canant scored.

Blue Jays 10, Astros 3

The Blue Jays scored nine runs in the fifth inning on two hits and five walks on the way to a seven-run victory.

The Blue Jays took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when Robert Burkhardt scored on a fielder’s choice.

The Astros scored one run in the fourth inning and two runs in the fifth. Both Chandler Jones and Dallas Wynkoop scored on singles.

The Blue Jays’ nine-run inning in the fifth included Burkhardt scoring twice; and Mitchell Murphy, Patrick McCalman, Shundariaus Curry, Nathan Langley, Colton Elmore, Hampton Glenn and Ashton Elmore scoring one run apiece.
