Roger Smith

Roger G. Smith, 80, of Laurel Hill, Fla., passed away in a Crestview, Fla., hospital on Sun., June 14, 2009.
A native of Munson, Fla., he was the son of the late Kirby and Elizabeth Rogers Smith. He started Smith Trucking Company in 1963, which transported logs and wood chips, and operated it until his retirement in 2002. He was a member of the Laurel Hill Assembly of God Church.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Tues., June 16, at Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Edwards and the Rev. Wendell Ard officiating. Interment followed in the Smyrna Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Rhodes Smith of Laurel Hill; three daughters, Virginia A. Reeves of Paxton, Sharon E. Baker of Pensacola, Fla., and Glenelle E. Lindsay and husband, Arnold, of Auburn; four sons, Roger “Tim” Smith and wife, Donna, of Paxton, William T. “Timbo” Smith and wife, Patricia, of Laurel Hill, David K. Smith and wife, Winona, of Pensacola, and Johnny R. Cooper and wife, Kathy, of Baker, Fla.; 17 grandchildren, Bryan McClelland, Casey Reeves, Nyleah Turner, Dawn Cooper, Jayme Smith, Brooke Cooper, Tyler Smith, Shanna Smith, Carlie Smith, Brandon Baker, Elaine Jones, Jenny Thompson, Kristen Smith, Rebecca Smith, Josh Lindsay and Kerri Lindsay; and 13 great-grandchildren.
