Faster than a gator

The 14th annual Alligator Trot 5K road race and walk took place last Saturday in Florala at the state park.

The run began at the intersection of 3rd Avenue and 3rd Street. Runners proceeded around Lake Jackson into Florida and back into Alabama, finishing at 916 Lakeshore Dr.

Competitors were split up into different age groups ranging in age from 9-and-under to 60-and-older.

The 2009 overall male and female winners were Matthew Dobson and Connie Robertson.

Dobson finished with a time of 16 minutes, 30 seconds, and Robertson finished with a time of 20:39.
