After serving a 50-game suspension for testing positive for drugs while taking a female fertility drug his doctor prescribed him, Ramirez returned to the field this week.

As early as Tuesday night, Ramirez showed everyone that he was just being himself when in the fifth inning against the New York Mets, he didn’t like a call the plate umpire called on strike three.

When the call was made, Ramirez tossed his bat and helmet off, then nonchalantly threw his elbow guard over his head. The pad landed a few feet away from home plate umpire John Hirschbeck.

Hirschbeck thought the guard was aimed for him when he turned around one second later and he tossed Ramirez out of the game.

I don’t think the umpire made the right call. So, will players be ejected when they take off their guards after being walked in a game?

Who knows, but Ramirez was just being himself.

Oh, and by the way, the Dodgers won the game against the Mets, 8-0. Ramirez was 2-for-4 with three RBIs to help his team to the victory.

So, at that point in the game, Ramirez was done, and he quietly walked out of the stadium into the locker room.

Strangely, with all that Ramirez does on the field to showcase himself, whether through playing stellar baseball or doing some pretty stupid stuff, that was the first time he was ejected as a Dodgers player.

The four previous times were with the Red Sox.

What will happen next with the left field slugger?

I hope it’s nothing too bad because he’s exciting to watch — even if he gets in trouble every once in a while.
