Mr. W. H. “Dub” Owens, 86, of Andalusia died Fri., July 17, 2009, in a Dothan hospital.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Harmony Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Keahey Funeral Home tonight from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to services. The Rev. Greg Cotter will officiate and eulogies will be given by Greg Henderson and Brian Owens. Burial will follow in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.
Memorial contributions may be made to Harmony Cemetery fund, Harmony Church Building Fund or the charity of one’s choice.
Survivors include his wife, Lola Messick Owens of Andalusia; two sisters-in-law, Nez Owens of Dade City, Fla. and Daisy Owens of Andalusia; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Grover Lee Owens, Chesley Owens and James Owens, and sisters, Minnie Lou Pugh, Bertha Williams and Boncile Hart.
Serving as pallbearers will be Hilton Bozeman, Doyce Colvin, Doy Smith, Shane Carter, Rhett Butler and Charles Cobb.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Owens, Lewis Owens, Marvin Owens, Paul Owens, Farris Williams, LaFaye Williams, Robert Hart, Cecil Morgan, Bobby Ray Morgan, Ronnie Morgan, Bobby Messick, Charles Messick, Jerry Henderson, Mike Messick and Will Sasser, Tim Messick, Ricky Messick, Quinn Owens, Winsol Rayburn, Ron Grimes, William Blocker, Norman Chestain, James Sirmon, Kenny Blackston Larry Cattret, Mike Daughtry and Raymond Kelley.
