An Opp man remains in jail Monday on allegations he sexually abused a child under 12.

Opp Police Chief Nickey Carnley said 54-year-old Frank Shade Harrison, a resident of West Hart Avenue, was arrested Friday after officers received a complaint about Harrison’s alleged behavior.

“According to the report, which was filed on (Thursday), the child had been visiting at a residence in Opp when the incident occurred,” Carnley said. “After (returning) home, the child informed a family member of the incident and family members then contacted the Opp Police Department.”

Carnley said after a brief investigation by the OPD and the county’s department of human resources, Harrison was taken into custody and charged with first-degree sodomy, first-degree attempted sodomy, sexual abuse of a child under 12 and luring a child in order to perform or propose sexual acts.

He is currently being held in the Covington County Jail under a $530,000 bond.
