The American Legion Post 80 baseball team traveled to Troy this past weekend, but came up one game short of winning the tournament title.

On Friday, Andalusia was defeated by Tuscaloosa, 5-4, in the first game, won against Florence, 9-4, and lost its final game against Limestone, 10-3.

Tuscaloosa 5, Andalusia 4

Tuscaloosa took an early lead over Andalusia in the first inning, scoring four runs.

Later in the third inning, Andalusia decreased Tuscaloosa’s lead by scoring one run.

In the sixth, Andalusia tied the game up with three runs before Tuscaloosa dealt the final blow, adding a run in the seventh to take the win.

Tuscaloosa’s Andrew Cooke was 1-for-4 with one run; Taylor Baggett was 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run; Tanner Smithson was 2-for-4 with one RBI and two runs; Marc Sullivan was 1-for-4 with one RBI; and Cody Lawrence was 1-for-4 with two RBIs.

Andalusia’s Josh Dewrell was 1-for-3 with one run; Robert Woodall was 0-for-3 with three runs; Chaseton Hall was 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI; Grady Ingram was 0-for-3 with one run; and Joshua Thompson was 1-for-1 with two runs.

Andalusia 9, Florence 4

Andalusia jumped out to a five-run lead over Florence in the second inning.

Florence added one run in the third and two runs in the fourth inning. Andalusia scored three additional runs in the fourth to seal the win.

Andalusia added its last run in the fifth inning and Florence scored its last run in the sixth.

Andalusia’s Josh Dewrell was 2-for-4 with one run and two RBIs; Robert Woodall scored three runs; Chaseton Hall was 1-for-4 with one run; Gunter Davis was 1-for-3 with one RBI; Grady Ingram was 2-for-4 with one run; Aaron Norrie was 0-for-2 with two runs; Dilan Manring was 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI; and Colter Poole was 2-for-3 with two runs and four RBIs.

Limestone 10, Andalusia 3

Andalusia went out to an early one-run lead over Limestone, but could not hold it.

In the third inning, both teams added a run. In the fourth inning, Limestone scored two runs, compared to Andalusia’s one, to tie the game up.

Limestone blew it open in the fifth inning by scoring seven runs, ending Andalusia’s run at the state title.

Limestone’s Justin Riddle was 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI; Seth Beaman was 1-for-4 with one run; Chandler Brock was 1-for-3 with one run; Steven Bennett was 1-for-3 with one run; James Smith was 0-for-2 with one run; Landon Boggs was 1-for-3 with one run; Lucas Mould was 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI; and Michael Fogg was 1-for-4 with two runs.
