Mrs. Melva Ward Fowler, 77, of Birmingham, died Sun., July 26, 2009, in the local hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at New Home Congregational Church. Kerry Davis and the Rev. Ed Ganus will officiate. Interment will follow in the New Home Congregational Church Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to services.
Survivors include her two sons, David J. Fowler and Ronald E. Fowler, both of Andalusia; daughter, Kay M. Fowler of Andalusia; sisters, Mary Lou McGahagin of Warner Robins, Ga., Yvonne and (Michael) O’Rourke of Andalusia, and Janis and (Charles) Sullivan of Mobile; grandchildren, Kyle E. Whitson of Macon, Ga., and Lacy L. Simms of Vicksburg, Miss.; great-grandchild, Kelsey Whitson of Macon, Ga.; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David E. Fowler; father, Dolger A. Ward; mother, Althea W. Locke; brother, Tim Ward; and sister, Sheron W. Davis.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Johns, Ted Prescott, Sean O’Rourke Sr., Sean O’Rourke Jr., Stephen Davis and Tim Prescott.
