There is an art to beauty. If you doubt it, look at some of Clara Hostetter’s nail designs.

The 16-year veteran of the nail industry, Hostetter is the new owner of Pro-Files, a full-service nail salon located on West Watson Street in Andalusia. One of her most recent pieces was featured in “Nail Magazine” a worldwide-distributed trade magazine for the nail tech industry.

Her creation depicts a 3-demensional nature scene – complete with a bumblebee sitting atop a flower.

“A lot of people don’t realize it, but the nail is a great canvas to express your personal style,” Hostetter said. “I can do just about whatever the customer asks for. Your nails say a lot about you.

“And it’s my job to make sure my customers look great,” she said. “This is just what I do. I love doing nails. It’s my passion.”

Hostetter said the design is easily created and it, as well as other 3-D designs, are becoming very popular.

“There are so many new things out there,” she said. “Really, your imagination is the limit. If you can think it, you can do it.”

Hostetter and new partner Jessica Williams have recently opened the nail salon in a newly remodeled Victorian home on West Watson Street. Inside, the building features a work room for each, a retail merchandise showroom and a room dedicated for “something really special.”

“What little girl doesn’t like to play dress up and get their hair and nails done?” she asked. “Here at Profiles, they can do just that. We’re going to offer parties for little girls where they can also make their very own lip gloss, the same for teens who get to make scented lotion sticks.

“And we can’t forget the grown ups,” she said. “We’re also going to offer the same for ladies who would like to come on as a group and do the same thing. It would be a great day out for a bridal party or even a birthday.”
