The upcoming school year for the Covington County School System will begin with a few new faces after the school board agreed this week to make 10 personnel changes.

Changes are effective at the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year, unless otherwise stated, and include:

employing Christie Foley Colvin as part-time career and technical education administrator and part-time special education teacher, effective immediately.

employing Endsley Givhan Bolen as special education teach with the CAPE program.

employing David Lee Windham as transportation foreman at the bus shop, effective immediately.

employing James Odom Barlow as science teacher at Florala City Middle School under emergency status.

transferring Jennifer Lerose Withrow from JAG teacher’s aide to English language arts teacher at Red Level School under emergency status.

employing Melissa Renae Myers as math teacher at Red Level School under emergency status.

accepting the resignation of Daphne Hardage as bus driver at Straughn High School and employing Tracie Hollinghead as her replacement.

employing Whitney Wellborn Geohagan as JAG teacher’s aide at SHS.

In other business, the board also approved bids for petroleum products, propane and a HVAC system for the central office and honored board members Jeff Bailey and Jimmy Rodgers for achieving continuing education honors at the Alabama Association of School Boards Academy.

The next meeting will be held Tues., Sept. 1, at 4:30 p.m.
