Straughn High School will host its annual “Meet the Tigers” event tonight at 6 p.m. at the football stadium.

The varsity football and B-team, volleyball team, cheerleaders and middle school football teams will be introduced at the Straughn Booster Club event.

Admission is free, but those who attend are asked to bring finger foods. Sandwiches and drinks will be provided.

SHS merchandise will be for sale and fans can pick up reserved tickets seats for the upcoming season.

Straughn Booster Club president Alan Bracewell said it is a night where parents can come and get to know the players.

“It’s just a way for the parents to meet again and for everybody to see the boys and girls and cheerleaders,” he said. “It’s also a fun night for everybody to be together and talk about the upcoming season.”

After all teams have been introduced, the varsity football team will hold their practice for the day while the parents eat. After their practice, the team will have a chance to eat as well.

Bracewell said this event has taken place for a long time and was previously held indoors.

“For the last couple of years we’ve moved to the outside at the stadium,” he said. “What we do is ask the parents and everybody to come around 6 (p.m.),” he said. “Coach (Trent) Taylor will welcome everybody. Then, we’ll open with the football team, cheerleaders and then we’ll introduce the volleyball team.

“It’s a night we get together to get ready for our football season. I’m hoping it will be a fun night.”
