Sarah Brown

Sarah Inez Mancill Brown died Aug. 7, 2009.
Mrs. Brown was born on Sept. 6, 1917, in Dixie, Escambia County, Ala., to Jim and Sally Mancill. She attended the University of Alabama and Troy State University.
Mrs. Brown taught second grade at W. S. Neal in East Brewton.
During World War II, she worked at Brookley Field in Mobile. After marrying Edwin Brown in 1946, the couple moved back to the Brown farm in Brownville, Ala., where she raised five children. Her greatest joy and first priority was always her family.
She leaves behind her daughters, Linda Futrell (husband Robert), Melva Kelley (husband Byron), Barbie Barrett (husband Charlie), and sons, Kenny (wife Judy) and Randy (wife Nancy).
She had nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three nephews: Jimmy, Tommy and Jerry Mancill.
She was an active member of Brownville Methodist Church and a founding member of the Brownville Volunteer Fire Department.
For the past three years she has been a resident of Evergreen Nursing Home where she was lovingly cared for by their kind and professional staff.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Brown; brother, Kilby Mancill, and grandson, Matthew Kelley.
