One game can set the tone for the rest of the season.

Tonight at 7 p.m., the Red Level Tigers and the Pleasant Home Eagles will come together in an annual jamboree game at Red Level to see what the players can do. The Tigers and Eagles also faced off last year, where the Tigers won, 14-0.

Red Level coach Tony Ingram said he wants to win, but also hopes the game is used to help his team get better for the regular season.

“We want to win, but we want to keep the game in perspective and use it for what it’s meant for,” he said. “We want to win first, but we want to not get so locked in on the game that we don’t work on different aspects of the game.

You’ve got to use this game as a springboard for the season.”

For Pleasant Home coach Robert Bradford, the chance to meet another team is “exciting.”

“We’re excited to play Red Level,” Bradford said. “The kids are about tired of hitting each other. They’re ready to turn those lights on and see what they can do.”

Ingram added that he would like to see his team work on a “complete game.”

“In a normal game, when we sit down and break the film down on Saturday, we decide what we can do to hurt the opponent from an offensive or defensive standpoint,” he said. “But, we also want to work on things that might work against some team down the road.

Playing with aggression is on the mindset for the Eagles. Bradford said he hopes his players play to their full potential on every play.

“I hope they go out and play very snap as hard as they can and that they play with aggression,” he said. “I want so that when the time comes and they have a chance to make a play they go all out and play. It’s something we stress to our kids to win games. We try to teach them to be very aggressive.”

Bradford said whether his team wins or loses tonight, he is just glad to have the opportunity to play in a jamboree game.

“Win or loss, it’s not going to be important to us (tonight),” Bradford said. “We just want to go out and prove to ourselves to give us an opportunity.”

Ingram said the game tonight would also help him decide what still needs work on both sides of the ball. In order to do well tonight, Ingram said the Tigers are going to have to “execute” well.

“This gives you a chance to go against a quality opponent and gives you a better look,” he said.

Ingram said the only thing he is knows for sure about Pleasant Home is the Eagles are a talented team with size.

“They have a big line,” he said. “We went to their lineman camp and I was impressed with them and they have big kids. The coaching staff there does a good job with those kids.

“We just want everybody to turn out and let’s get this thing started,” he said.

Bradford said he knows Red Level will also have a talented team.

“The only thing that I really know is that they are going to be athletic,” Bradford said. “That’s the one thing that’s always been about Red Level. They are always quick and strong and usually match up for us, which makes it a fun game.”
