Mrs. Lillian Voncile Davis, 86, passed away Aug. 17, 2009, at her home in the Zion Hill community after a courageous battle with cancer.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, H. H. “Pete” Davis, and her “adopted daughter,” niece Lynn Krudop of Andalusia.
Voncile was born in Covington County and grew up in the Pleasant Home area as one of 13 children of Maggie Bell Shehan Simmons and William Ezra Simmons. She is survived by three brothers, Donald Simmons of Richardson, Texas, Wayne Simmons of Laurel Hill, Fla., Daniel Simmons of Enterprise, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., today at the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Mary Ann Gantt officiating and Foreman Funeral Home directing the service.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Gantt, Claude Summerlin, Tim Simmons, Billy Simmons, Roger Simmons and Scotty Simmons.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
