Straughn’s volleyball team swept Class 2A Flomaton 3-0 on Tuesday evening at SHS, but the Lady Tigers had to work for that sweep.

Two of the three games went to tiebreaker points, and Straughn had to overcome a 24-21 deficit in the final game to pull off the three-game victory. The Lady Tigers won by the score of 26-24, 25-20, 26-24.

“Tori Bracewell is out with the flu, so I had to move my libero (Katie Beck) to the front and she did a great job stepping in,” Straughn coach Lori Kinsaul said. “I’m proud of the team. They rallied several times tonight and did a good job of playing consistent.”

Beck finished with two aces, one dig and one kill. Kaitlynn Wiggins led the team with three aces and five digs, and Kayla Messer had a team-high seven kills. Stephanie Bracewell had 14 set assists.

With the win, Straughn improved to 3-1 on the season.
