At halftime tonight at the Straughn-Cottage Hill game, Keith Shiver will be presented a plaque of appreciation from the Straughn community.

Shiver is currently in a Dothan hospital undergoing treatment for Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Shiver’s brother, Kenny, and Keith’s son, Luke will receive the plaque.

Frankie McVey, Keith’s former termite football coach, will present the plaque.

McVey said Shiver had a big heart, despite his lack of physical size.

“He’s one of those kids that when you walked on the field he was half the size as the rest,” McVey said. “Pound for pound, he was one of the toughest kids I’ve ever coached.”

McVey said to keep praying for Shiver.

“From a family standpoint, I encourage every one to pray for Keith because he’s facing a giant right now in his life,” he said. “I know he’s not going to give up.”
