The public is invited to attend a reception on Sunday from 4-5 p.m. for an internationally known artist, Barbara Flowers, who will be Opp for an oil workshop to be held at the Opp Cultural Arts Council from Sept. 14-16.

The class was limited to 12 and at the present time the class has been filled. Everyone is invited to view her work on Sunday afternoon before the workshop begins on Monday.

Flowers is an international artist who lived most of her life near the Rhine Valley in Germany. A driving desire to create began at a young age. Flowers’ parents encouraged her artistic growth with private art lessons and visits to European museums to see art collections and masterpieces.

She was educated in foreign languages and had a successful career as a foreign correspondent. Her passion to create art became so strong that she closed the door on her career and opened a new door to the world of art.

Flowers is best known for her work in impressionism and has had many one-woman shows across the country. She is pleased to announce that her work has been juried into the American Impressionist Society’s 10th National Juried Exhibition, to be held at the Saks Galleries in Denver, Colo. She will also be the “featured artist” at the Huntsville Museum Gala on March 6, 2010.
