Andalusia could not pull out a second win over Kinston Tuesday night, falling in three games.

Kinston was defeated Saturday by Andalusia at the fourth annual volleyball tournament, where Andalusia claimed the title.

Andalusia lost to Kinston Tuesday night, 15-25, 23-25, 14-25.

“Saturday was a wake up call,” Kinston coach Janie Wiggins said. “I think the loss to Andalusia (2-6, 1-0 in Class 4A, Area 3) got their attention Monday and how important it is to stay focused all of the time.”

Andalusia coach Angie Grimes said her team was the exact opposite of being “focused.”

“It was just a lack of focus,” Grimes said. “Our passing was not ‘clean’ tonight as I wanted it to be.

“We’re going to have to practice (Wednesday) to get ready for our area game against Clarke County on Thursday,” she said. “(Tuesday night) Kinston changed their line up and got some good blocks.”

Opp 3, Brewbaker Tech 0

The Lady Bobcats improved to a 2-1 area record Tuesday night defeating Brewbaker Tech 25-17, 25-16, 25-18.

“I though they played good against Brewbaker Tech,” Opp coach Christie Spurlin said. “They hustled and got to the ball.”

The Lady Bobcats move to a 4-9, 2-1 in Class 4A, Area 2 record on the season.

Straughn 2, Opp 0

Straughn defeated the Lady Bobcats 25-23, 25-20 Tuesday night in Opp.

“We were a little rusty (Tuesday night),” Straughn coach Lori Kinsaul said. “We’re still working on our rhythm and Opp has improved. We had some hard serves we missed, but we’re still improving.”

The Lady Tigers improve to a (7-1, 1-0 in Class 3A, Area 3) record.

Flomaton 3, Pleasant Home 1

Pleasant Home coach Jerry Davis described his team’s play Tuesday night against Flomaton as “up and down.”

“I don’t have a lot of complaints only that we were just inconsistent,” Davis said. “We’re still trying to get our injured back right now. We’re still not shooting with all the bullets right now. It seems as if everybody we play is pretty good.”

The Lady Eagles lost 18-25, 21-25, 25-18, 18-25.

Andalusia will host area opponent Clarke County at 3:30 p.m. today; Straughn hosts Enterprise at 4 p.m. today; and Pleasant Home will host area opponent Kinston at 4 p.m. today.
