Tom Hester Prestwood, formerly of Andalusia, died in a Pensacola, Fla., hospital on Thurs., Sept. 24, 2009.
Tom was born to Dovie T. Prestwood and Johnnie Inez Shear Prestwood on Dec. 29, 1939, in Loango. His parents and all of his siblings preceded him in death. Tom’s vocation in life was an outstanding automobile mechanic.
He married his ex-wife, Patricia Snell (now deceased) in April 1964. From their marriage came five children, all of whom survive him: Patricia Prestwood Light and Tommie Faye Prestwood, both of Montgomery, Thomas (Elizabeth) Hayes of Jacksonville, Fla., Billy (Saskia) Hayes of Birmingham and Evelyn (Mick) Cornwell of Hinsdale, Mass.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Savannah, Tristen, Spencer and Sydney Hayes and Tim Cornwell; his cousins, Larry (Margaret) Jeter and John (Rhonda) Cross; and his aunt and uncle, Earl (Mary) Shear and Gertrude Jones of Opp.
A private family graveside service will take place at a later date.
