Sgt. Gordon deserved a larger crowd

Dear Editor,

There were a lot of people who turned out to honor Sgt. David Gordon. I’m sure the family appreciated each and every one. I was very disappointed in the number, considering the size of our county. I didn’t know Sgt. Gordon, but from what I read, he was a fine young man.

Some people chose to watch football, go to turkey shoots, and things like that. What a lot of people don’t seem to grasp is the fact if it wasn’t for the men and women who serve, we wouldn’t have the freedom to make these choices.

My father was retired from the Air Force and fought for the right for us to have the freedom of choice.

Maybe the ones who made the choice not to come out and honor this fine young man will never have to lose a loved one fighting for our freedom.

May God bless this family and help them through their loss.
