GROVE HILL – Andalusia’s T.K. Bullard made up for being absent from last week’s game against Thomasville by driving the ball 142 yards on 22 carries and leading the Bulldogs to a 19-7 region victory over Clarke County Friday night.

“We gave the ball to T.K. Bullard and we just used his 190-pound frame to lean on people,” Andalusia coach Brian Seymore said.

Bullard also had a 15-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter to give his team a 6-0 lead.

After Bullard’s touchdown reception, Clarke County’s Daniel Bedwell connected with Torri Taite to give his team their only touchdown for the night.

Seymore said the key in the second half was his players’ attitudes.

“I really think the biggest key for us was not getting down,” Seymore said. “Not hanging our heads. I wanted four quarters from our guys. We had a breakdown right there before the half. It was disappointing to me and to my kids. At halftime we made some adjustments and I think we played four strong quarters tonight.”

Andalusia (4-3, 3-2 in Class 4A, Region 1) allowed two turnovers in the first half compared to Clarke County’s one.

On Andalusia’s first possession in the third quarter, Demetrius Reed picked up the ball on a fake punt play and scored from the 47-yard line to give Andalusia the lead, 12-7.

The last time Reed attempted this fake punt was in Andalusia’s first game of the season, a 20-7 win over Straughn.

In that game, Reed ran from 58 yards out to help lead his team to the victory.

Later in the third quarter with 1:51 left on the clock, Andalusia’s Deion Akins carried the ball in from the 1-yard line. The extra point attempt was good to make the final score, 19-7.

Andalusia’s defense held Clarke County to only 124 yards on offense in the first half, and 37 yards in the second half.

“I pretty much think we dominated the second half,” Seymore said. “I talked about it with our kids and sometimes you have to face adversity and we did right there. We came out in the second half and broke it down right there.”

Bedwell gave up an interception late in the fourth quarter and Andalusia’s Shane Dorsey was there to make the grab.

Akins was 5-for-8 for 51 yards and one touchdown for the night in passing. He also carried the ball four times for 5 yards and one touchdown.

Andalusia will host Hillcrest-Evergreen next Friday for homecoming.
