Jack Hill, Sr.

Jack C. Hill Sr., 88, of Punxsutawney, Pa., and formerly of Shawville, Pa., went home to be with the Lord Sat., Sept. 26, 2009, at his home.
Mr. Hill was born Nov. 19, 1920, in Luverne. A son of the late Elmer and Tissie (Cook) Hill, he was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Hill was a member of the First Church of God in Punxsutawney. He served many years as a counselor at Kids Camp in Dillsburg, Pa. He loved woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Betty (Maines) Hill of Punxsutawney; one son, Jack C. Hill Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; two daughters, Ann Grube and husband Doug of Punxsutawney and Deb Lavery and husband Terry of Gerard, Pa.; three brothers, Billy Hill and wife Jackie of Brantley, Lister Hill and wife Marilyn, and Bobby Hill and wife Merle, all of Andalusia; one sister, Gladys Posey of Andalusia; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Joe, and a sister, Grace.
A funeral service was held Tues., Sept. 29, at the funeral home with Pastor Greg Tibbs officiating.
