The Opp Bobcats had 45 carries for 373 yards Friday night to defeat Elmore County on the road 41-14.

“We played pretty well,” Opp coach Jack Whigham said. “The defense played well, too.”

It was 28-0 at halftime and Opp added 14 more points before allowing its B-team to play.

“We went ahead 41-0 and we started to put the B-team kids in the third quarter,” Whigham said. “We had a good game overall.”

Opp had 19 first downs for the night. Elmore County also had 19 first downs.

On rushing, Elmore County had 34 carries for 116 yards.

In passing, the Bobcats (4-4, 3-3 in Class 4A, Region 2) were 4-for-5 for 73 yards and one touchdown. Elmore County was 17-for-32 and one interception.

Whigham said his team “ran the ball well.”

“We ran the top sweep and we had a lot of kids that got a chance to play in the game,” he said.

Opp will hit the road again next week to face Montgomery Catholic.
