The Pleasant Home Eagles celebrated senior night in style with a 54-0 thrashing of the Florala Wildcats Friday night at Eagle Field. The night belonged to six Pleasant Home seniors and their teammates as they raced to a 28-0 halftime lead and never looked back to earn their third victory of the season.

Coach Robbie Bradford praised his football team for finishing the season strong.

“I’m especially proud of these seniors,” he said. “They’ve kept on battling, even though they lost some tough ones this year. They deserved this one tonight.”

Senior quarterback Ethan King had the best night of his career, throwing four touchdown passes and passing for 250 yards. Tyler Barbaree once again led the Eagles’ ground game, rushing for 140 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries. Seniors C.J. Langley and Josh Godwin also had spectacular nights. Langley had two interceptions and hauled in a 45-yard strike from King for a touchdown. He also booted five extra points. Godwin caught two touchdown passes and added eight more receptions for 85 yards.

Defensively, the Eagles were led by seniors Will Ballard and Dillon Roland. Ballard was in the Florala backfield all night, while Roland recorded 14 tackles and also scored a touchdown on a 3-yard run in the fourth quarter.

The Eagle defense forced several fumbles and interceptions, one by ninth grader John Newby, who returned it 10 yards for a touchdown.

Florala opened the game with a 60-yard drive that ended with an interception by the Eagles’ Hunter Weaver on the Pleasant Home 20-yard line. The Eagle offense took over and drove the ball 80 yards, with King passing to Godwin and Corey Sims and finally hitting C.J. Langley with a 15-yard touchdown pass for Pleasant Home’s first score.

Barbaree ran another touchdown in from 12 yards out with 10:06 left in the half, to make it 14-0. Godwin’s first touchdown pass came from 40 yards away to make the score 21-0 and Sims caught a 45-yarder with 8 seconds left in the half to make it 28-0.
