Mrs. Callie Smith Maloy, 91, of the Rose Hill community, passed away Fri., Nov. 6, 2009, at her daughter’s residence.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Mon., Nov. 9, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Rose Hill. The Rev. Phillip Morgan and the Rev. Durwood Cleland officiated. Special music was provided by Randy Kelley and the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church choir. with Keahey Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Sara Maloy of Ashford; two daughters and a son-in-law, Dorothy Lumpkin of Andalusia and Mary and David Chappell of the Rose Hill community; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Ricky Lumpkin, Levi Lumpkin, Lucas Lumpkin, Glen Maloy, Brent Maloy and Andrew Maloy.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Maloy, and her son, Joe Edward Nelson.
