The Alabama Department of Transportation would like to inform the traveling public that a section of Martin Luther King Expressway, also known as the Andalusia bypass, will be narrowed to one lane in each direction on Thursday.

This is necessary in order to replace a drainage pipe under the roadway.

The construction will be in the area of Andalusia Ford and Stewart Street. The northern-most block of Stewart Street will also be closed.

It is anticipated the roadway will be opened to full traffic again by Thursday night. However, if circumstances dictate it, the road will be closed Thursday night and into Friday.

Traffic control devices will be in place to safely guide traffic through the work area, and motorists are asked to slow down and use caution in the work area.
