‘Turnovers’ cause Lady Bobcats’ 45-39 loss

The Opp Lady Bobcats finished in fourth place at the third annual Straughn Lady Tigers Thanksgiving tournament Wednesday, falling to Flomaton, 45-39.

The Lady Bobcats led 22-19 at halftime, but could not keep the lead, scoring nine points in the third quarter compared to Flomaton’s 16.

Opp added eight in the fourth and Flomaton had 10.

“We made too many turnovers,” Opp coach Allison Gregory said. “We did not take care of the basketball.”

Flomaton’s Tara Gafford led her team with 15 points and Paige Harwell added 10.

Opp’s Nisha Stoudemire led the Lady Bobcats with 14 points, Soyia Folmar had eight; and Helena Harrison and Ladestiny Davis had six points apiece.

Elba 60, Opp 49

Elba’s Jacquetta Daniels had a game-high 21 points to help lead her team to the 11-point win.

Kei-Auna Edwards also had a good night for Elba, scoring 16 points.

Opp’s Soyia Folmar led her team with 19 points; Katelyn Mikel had eight; and Helena Harrison and Nisha Stoudemire had seven points apiece.

The Lady Bobcats will travel to face Elba on Tuesday.
