Covington County Schools will remain closed Wednesday, interim superintendent Terry Holley said Tuesday afternoon.

Holley met with the county commission in its emergency meeting and heard engineer Darren Capps report that all county roads remained closed and the list of barricaded roads would top 60 when highway department workers completed a survey county roads Tuesday afternoon.

“I don’t feel comfortable letting buses on some of these roads,” Capps said.

Both Holley and Capps were hopeful that Wednesday will be sunny and allow some dirt roads to dry and emergency repairs to begin. However, EMA director Susan Carpenter said another storm system is expected to move into the area Wednesday night.
