Nutcracker was a monumental success

Dear Editor,

May I use your forum to thank all who made Andalusia Ballet’s The Nutcracker such an overwhelming success the weekend of Dec.11-13? Amid the terrible weather, we had a near sellout for the Saturday night and Sunday afternoon performances at the Dixon Center for the Performing Arts on the LBWCC campus.

On behalf of the Andalusia Ballet Association, I would first like to thank all the dancers and their families for their hard work and dedication over the past few weeks. Without you, there would be no performances. Next, thank you patrons and supporters who give to make sure we can host these wonderful performances throughout the year. There are so many volunteers that I could not begin to list them. To all who helped in a big or small way, “thank you!”

Our audiences were great! The third and fifth graders from all of our Covington County schools viewed The Nutcracker on Wed., Dec. 9, and Thurs., Dec. 10. We would like to thank Shaw Industries for their contribution toward these school performances. Our Ballet Association members were offered the opportunity to attend the Fri., Dec. 11, performance and the chance to attend the Gala, which followed at the Andalusia Country Club.

Thanks to everyone who helped in making all of this happen. We appreciate you and your dedication to expanding the arts in our community. To each and every one who made the effort to attend our other performances in the inclement weather, many thanks to you. Special thanks to The Andalusia Star-News for helping publicize this highly anticipated holiday event in our community.

We are very much looking forward to beginning our renovation and restoration of Church Street School in the coming months. There are still opportunities available to be a part of this historic preservation project. All donations are tax deductible through Andalusia Ballet Association, and any of our board or staff would be happy to discuss this with you.

Again, thanks one and all for another magical Nutcracker!

Sincerely,

Mary Lynn Pierce Edgar, public relations
