Two Opp men were arrested Wednesday after allegedly beating and robbing a local man.

Opp Police Chief Nickey Carnley said the victim, an unidentified 34-year-old male, was lured to a Covala Road residence Tuesday under false pretenses and was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash, his banking debit cards and other personal items.

“Luckily, the victim suffered only minor injuries and was able to walk to a nearby residence to call for help,” Carnley said.

The alleged perpetrators — 31-year-old Otis L. Daniels and 32-year-old Walton Wilson Solomon — were taken into custody and charged with second-degree robbery and third-degree assault.

Each was taken to the Covington County Jail, where Solomon was held on a $175,000 bond and Daniels, who was also arrested on a violation of probation charge, was held without bond.
