County schools will hold make-up dates

County school students will have to report to school two extra days this school year for severe weather make-up days.

Students did not attend classes Dec. 15 and 16 because of heavy rains and road closures.

School board members agreed Tuesday to amend the school calendar to set Fri., March 19, and Mon., March 22, as make up days.

Interim superintendent Terry Holley said that despite concerns the date conflicted with certain schools’ proms on Fri., March 19, it “was the best we have to offer.”

Holley said spring sports schedules prevented moving prom dates.
