“In the second quarter, they made a push and outscored us 20-10,” Straughn coach Todd Reynolds said. “We played them even in the second half of the game, but that second quarter got us.”

Straughn’s Austin Pickrel led with 14 points and had eight rebounds and James Byrd had nine points and three blocks.

C.J. Christopher and Caleb Cochran added 12 points apiece.

The Tigers fell to 5-9, 0-2 in Class 3A, Area 3.

Straughn coach Scott Kinsaul said his team did not play well in all aspects of the game Friday night.

“The things we’ve been doing, for some reason we couldn’t do it (Friday night),” Kinsaul said. “We couldn’t rebound, score, press and defense. It was one of those bad nights.”

The Lady Tigers fall to 13-3, 1-1.

Straughn will travel to play Luverne next Tuesday night.
