Four Andalusia players finished in double figures Saturday night to help lead the Bulldogs to a 73-58 win over Calera.

Jacard Townsend led with 16 points, Justin Dooley had 14, O’Brien Curry had 13 and Corinthian Sims chipped in 10.

“In the second half, at one point we had a 28-point lead, and then we won by 15,” Robertson said.

The Bulldogs improve to 15-2 overall and 2-0 in Class 4A, Area 3 after last week’s win. Robertson said every area game is a “must win.”

“We want to be playing at home (for the area tournament),” he said.

Tonight, Andalusia will host Thomasville in an area matchup.

“We’ve got to do a better job of playing defense,” Robertson said. “We lost our defensive goal the other night in Calera by eight points. We made too many mistakes, too many missed shots — high percentage shots.

“They gave us some trouble at the beginning with their pressure,” he said. “We’re not where we need to be. We will not attain our goals if we don’t get better and get better in a hurry. Right now, it is very imperative we win.”

In B-team action, the Bulldogs lost 49-37.

Andalusia girls 56,

Calera girls 24

In Saturday night’s game at Calera, Andalusia’s Shi’Amber Townsend led with nine points. Alexis Horton and Erica King had eight points apiece.

The Lady Bulldogs (13-4, 2-0) will be playing for a top spot in area play tonight against Thomasville.

“If we can win, we’ll be in control of our own destiny,” Andalusia coach Bennie Shellhouse said. “They have several returning girls that are similar to us.”

The Lady Bulldogs tip off after the B-team at 4 p.m.
