Syble Inez Carter Taylor, 85, of Andalusia, died Thurs., Jan. 7, 2010.
She was born Sept. 19, 1924, near Babbie. She loved her friends, her family and her church, West Highland Baptist, where she taught children’s classes for years before her health declined.
She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Oliver Gordon Taylor, and is survived by her son, Terry Taylor; her daughter-in-law, Susan Griffin Taylor of Richmond, Va.; and grandchildren, Jake Taylor of Manchester, Conn., Abe Taylor of Ashburn, Va., and Abby Taylor of Richmond, Va. Her beloved nephew, Jared Boutwell, and her best friend, Dot Lancaster, also survive her.
She was the last of her siblings, Pete Carter, Ester Boutwell, Hiram Carter, Acea Carter, Cecil Carter, Rosie Rhodes and Virgie Nelson, who all preceded her in death.
Syble’s wry smile, sense of humor and forgiving nature was well known to those who knew and loved her. A lot of obits talk about how wonderful the deceased was, but Syble leaves a lot of friends and family to do that for her.
Services were held at Foreman’s Chapel on Sun., Jan. 10, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Larry Stewart and the Rev. Leroy Cole officiating. Burial followed at Stone Lake Cemetery.
