The Red Level Tigers defeated Excel on the road Friday night 61-55.

Troy Nolen led Red Level with 13 points. James Feagin also had a good night for the Tigers with 10 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks.

Red Level improves to 10-10 overall, and 3-1 in Class 2A, Area 1.

“That was a huge ball game for us,” Red Level coach Fred Kelley said.

Tonight, Red Level will host area foe Flomaton.

“(Flomaton) is 2-1 right now in area and if we win out, we can host the area tournament,” Kelley said. “We’re going to take it one game at a time. That was a huge win for us Friday night.”

In varsity girls action, Red Level’s Koneshia Calloway scored on an offensive rebound with 13 seconds left on the clock to help her team edge past Excel 40-39.

Calloway led the Lady Tigers with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Lania Paulk had eight points and six rebounds.

The Lady Tigers improve to 4-12 overall, and 3-1 in Class 2A, Area 1.
