An Andalusia man was jailed Wednesday for allegedly using text messaging to entice two teenage girls.

Florala’s assistant police chief Chris Jackson said Thursday, the case originated in Florala when Donald Frederick Vanhook III, 22, asked the girls – both under 16 – to meet him in a Florala restaurant parking lot.

“Apparently, Mr. Vanhook drove to Florala to pick the girls up, asked them if they wanted to take a ride with him,” Jackson said. “He then took them back to a residence out in the county where, using alcohol, (allegedly) attempted to get them to have sex with him.

“We know that this will probably become a multi-jurisdictional case with more charges pending from other agencies as the investigation continues,” he said.

As of now, Vanhook is charged with two counts of enticing a child for immoral purposes.

He was booked into the Covington County Jail where he is being held on a $20,000 bond.
