Wallace has successful 1st season on racecar circuit

Andalusia High School junior racecar driver Zak Wallace completed his first season at the South Alabama Speedway Cuplite division last October.

In a field of 13 drivers, Wallace finished the 2009 race season third place in points.

Wallace had a successful first season as a racecar driver.

He had one second place finish, four third place finishes, two fourth place finishes, one fifth place finish and one seventh place finish.

Wallace attended the South Alabama Speedway banquet at Enterprise Ozark Community College on Jan. 16.

Race fans voted Wallace “Rookie of the Year,” and he was named the third palce winner in the Cuplite division.

Wallace received a trophy, plaque, $100 and a $50 gift certificate.

The 2010 season will get under way on March 5-7 for the running of the “Rattler” race.

Roy and Missi Hester, 2Xtreme Graphics & Designs, JR’s Lawnmower Shop, C & L Tire and his parents, Jeff and Sonia Wallace of Andalusia, sponsored him in 2009.

Wallace is the grandson of Doris Henderson and the late Bobby Dee Henderson; and George Wallace and the late Lucile Wallace, all of Andalusia. He is the great-grandson of Aubrey McGlaun and the late Helen McGlaun of Andalusia.
