The Florala Wildcats and Pleasant Home Eagles ended their seasons Friday night in the Class 1A, Area 3 tournament at Butler County Magnet School.

Pleasant Home boys coach Jerry Davis said it was a sad way to end the season.

“We just didn’t have any answers for it and we didn’t quit,” he said. “I’ve been with these seniors all the way through since they were in the seventh grade. It was a tough night for the seniors.

“It wasn’t due to a lack of effort,” he said. “Kinston had one in the zone and he had to have had 30 points. He kept them going.”

Pleasant Home finished the season with a 17-10 record.

McKenzie led 20-7 after the first quarter and didn’t let up throughout the rest of the game.

“We were up 7-6 and they wound up leading 20-7 after the first quarter,” Florala coach Brad Garner said. “In the last two minutes of the first and the first three to four seconds of the second quarter they went to full court press and we didn’t handle it real well.

“We turned the ball over and didn’t control the tempo of the game and took ourselves out of it at that point,” he said.

Zac Fleming led Florala with 11 points. Erik Vega and Colt Jackson added nine each.

The Wildcats ended their season with a 2-21 record.
