Four “persons of interest” have been identified in Thursday’s Florala Wachovia bank robbery, Florala Chief Sonny Bedsole said Friday.

An unidentified man and woman passed a note to a bank teller demanding the contents of the bank drawer and left with $1,700, Bedsole said.

“This is what we know now – we have a very reliable witness who saw the two walk out the front door and to a port-a-potty at (Florala’s Lake Jackson),” he said. “We were unable to locate a boat or any other type vehicle at this time. It’s my opinion that a third party came by and picked them up.”

Tracking dogs were called in; however the couple’s scent was lost near the Florala State Park campgrounds at Lake Jackson.

Bedsole said officers are continuing to work tips that might lead to the couple’s capture – which led officers to the discovery they were looking for more than two people.

“We have identified four persons of interest from the Holmes/Walton County, Fla.,” he said. “Two males and two females that all fit the descriptions.”

Bedsole said “numerous phone calls came in pointing us in that direction.”

“We’ve also submitted the note for fingerprint analysis, and hopefully should have those results next week.”

Next, Bedsole said officers will put together a photo line up for the clerk, in the hopes of getting a positive identification.

“Everything (the couple) did inside the bank was captured on video,” Bedsole said.

“Those images are the key to solving this crime. Anyone with any information is asked to contact us immediately.”

Each has been described in their late 20s to mid-30s.

The man was further described as approximately 5’8 to 5’10, weighing approximately 180 pounds wearing a blue toboggan, blue jeans, camouflage jacket and gold necklace. His female accomplice was described as “slender, wearing blue jeans, a sun visor and dark colored shirt or sweater” and as having a tattoo on her neck.
