A woman who robbed a bank in Flomaton Monday and the man who waited for her in a truck matched the descriptions of a couple who robbed Florala’s Wachovia Bank last week.

Florala Police Chief Sonny Bedsole said United Bank of Flomaton, located on Hwy. 29, was hit late Monday afternoon.

A white female with a tattoo on her neck and wearing a cap handed a teller a note, he said. A white male suspect waiting outside in a pick-up truck wore a navy-blue toboggan, he said.

Last Thursday, a couple described similarly left the Florala bank on foot after passing a teller a note demanding cash. They are believed to have stolen approximately $1,700.

Investigators believe the couple hid in a port-a-potty near Florala’s Lake Jackson until a third party picked them up.

On Friday, Bedsole said investigators had identified four persons of interest in the Florala heist, all from Northwest Florida. However, each of those individuals was cleared on Monday, he said.

Anyone with information about either robbery is asked to call Bedsole at 334-858-3244.
