“Portraits of Us” is a photography exhibit that delivers exactly what it promises – portraits of the people and faces of Covington County.

Sponsored by the Lower Alabama Arts Coalition and on display inside Andalusia’s Sugar Rush Bakery beginning today through April, the exhibit features works shot by local arts of local people, said Amy Henderson of the LAAC.

“This community is so diverse – probably even more so than people realize,” Henderson said. “We thought it would be a great idea to showcase the faces of what makes this community so great.”

Groups of 20 photographs will be rotated on a two-week basis. Photographers include Dr. Angelo Agro, C.M. Ryan Doty, Robert Evers and Zoe Birk and there are plans to additional selections by others throughout the months.

Dr. Agro, an avid photographer, when he’s not working as an ear nose and throat doctor, said the photos represent a “good cross-section of the faces of Andalusia.”

“These are photos of people you know or some you don’t know, but it goes to show how different we all are,” Agro said.

An opening reception will also be held Sat., March 13, from 3 to 5 at Sugar Rush.
