Bobcats beat Bullock County

The Opp Bobcats swept Bullock County in a doubleheader Monday night at Opp’s Merchants Field.

Opp won the first game 13-2 and the second game 15-0.

In the sweep, the Bobcats won their first area game and got the early edge on a tiebreaker to win the second game.

Despite winning two area games, Opp’s area record stands at 1-0 in Class 4A, Area 2. The Bobcats’ second game was played in case of a tiebreaker.

Opp 13, Bullock County 2

Tyler Harrison earned the win for the Bobcats on the mound pitching 4.0 innings and striking out nine batters. Josh Thompson came in and got the save striking out two.

Thompson had four hits; Dillan Ziglar had two hits; Jantzen Flowers, Alex Banks, Gavin Free and Britt Wilson had one hit each.

Opp 15, Bullock County 0

Hunter Jones pitched a complete game Monday night, striking out 11 at the plate and allowing zero hits.

Josh Thompson, Steadman Gerber and Trey Short had two hits each; and Alex Banks had one hit.

Opp improves to 7-2 overall as of Monday.

The Bobcats will host Elba today at 4 p.m., starting with the junior varsity team.
