AHS girls score 6 late in win

The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs softball team scored three runs in the third and fourth innings Tuesday afternoon in a 9-2 win over Red Level at the Andalusia Sports Complex.

In the first inning, Kenna Edmondson scored the first run and Kristen Finely answered with one run of her own in the second inning.

Leading 2-0 in the third inning, Andalusia’s Paige Caraway, Abbie Young and Megan Pugh all scored for the Lady Bulldogs to bring their team’s lead to 5-0.

In the fourth, Edmondson, Young and Pugh scored the three runs for Andalusia.

Caraway added her team’s last run in the sixth.

Red Level scored one run in the sixth and seventh innings, respectively.

A.C. Riley was 2-for-4 with one double and one single; Edmondson was 2-for-4 with two singles; Young was 2-for-4 with two doubles; and Pugh was 2-for-4 with one single and one double.

Young earned the win on the mound for Andalusia. She pitched 7.0 innings, scattering eight hits, allowing one earned and unearned run. She had nine strikeouts.

In junior varsity action, Andalusia dominated Red Level to claim a 15-0 win over the visiting Lady Tigers.

Andalusia scored three runs in the first inning, 10 runs in the second and two runs in the third.

Kelsey Ramirez, Emily Terry and Shelby Nixon scored in the first inning; Ramirez (2), Greeley Foshee, Terry (2), Andi Hughes, Nixon, Latishia Crittenden, Olivia Dixon and Breanna Dixon all scored in the second inning; and Olivia Dixon and Breanna Dixon scored in the third.

Andalusia will travel to play Opp today starting with the junior varsity team at 4 p.m.
